Character Assessment

With over 20 years of experience, PSC has collected a world leading database on the characteristics of elite athletes. At Professional Sports Consultants, we know what the psychological makeup of a successful athlete looks like. Our assessments offer a customized psychological, cognitive, and sociological inventory designed to determine the character of your athletes. We give you a library of 34 characteristics for you to customize to reflect your precise, team, sport, culture, and needs for you sports organization.

Athlete Development Programs

As professionals with years of experience working with athletes we know how to help them develop to achieve maximum potential. We understand that a player must progress both on and off the field in order for them to be successful. We have collected data from elite athletes and can identify what characteristics in elite athletes need to be developed in order to achieve success. We can provide your organization with reports on your athletes. These reports provide an instant snapshot of every player's strengths, notable characteristics, and opportunities for development. Specific sections may include, for instance, detailed narratives on discipline, managing pressure, flexibility, leadership skills, assertiveness, and work ethic.

Team Assessment and Development

All sports teams are different, containing athletes with varying skill sets and personalities. In every case the “Winning Team” is the team where athletic skills, and character traits are successfully interlinked and where they complement each other for the common good. Professional Sports Consultants provides a unique approach consisting of character assessment, interviews, and team activities that will help your athletic team excel on and off the field.

Teamwork in a sports organizations is not limited to work on the field. Most sports organizations are made up of several departments, all of which need to be able to work together for the good of the company, and this means that team development is an important issue. The teams or departments in every sports organizations have to be able to communicate clearly with one another so that they can express their needs or point of view. Without this clear understanding, the sports organizations will struggle to move forward.

This means that teamwork is essential for any sports organizations, because no one person is responsible for every action taken there. The employees all need to work together for the good of the company, but not everyone considers this. Professional Sports Consultants provides objective information on an individual’s motivating needs and natural workplace behavior and their impact on the team dynamics. Sports Organizational Development and Consulting

Organization Development, commonly referred to as "OD," is an overall consideration of how work is done and what the people who carry out the work believe and feel about their efficiency and effectiveness, with an emphasis is on "development." This means that people's capability in creating their own improvement, learning and development is enhanced.

At Professional Sports Consultants, we employ a total performance system to help sports organizations to maximize individual, team, and organizational performance. We help your organization to focus on “Winning,” and optimal performance for which they have passion and capability to drive the organization's success. We accomplish this by assisting in connecting and aligning the athletes, management, and coaches collective goals and efforts.

Individualized Athletic Counseling

Our licensed Professional Sports Consultants work with athletes and/or their families to address and treat mental and emotional disorders and to promote mental health. We are trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to address issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, and grief. PSC can also help with transitions to secular life after their playing days, as well as mental and emotional health issues, and relationship problems.

Psychological Sociological Character Inventories (PSCI)

PSCI Key Features:

The PSCIs are easy to administer in person or online, requiring only 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Reports can be generated and used immediately after completion for interview purposes Reports can be generated by any personnel approved by professional team with a secured password. There is no limit to the number of times PSCIs can be administered, scored, and generated. Because the relationship between the test items and the traits measured by the PSCIs are not obvious, it is difficult for the player to deliberately tailor responses to achieve a desired outcome. PSCIs are designed exclusively to provide vital psychological, social, and cognitive traits information on the elite professional athlete.

Basic Interpretive Report:

  • An agreed upon numerical grade is given for each characteristic
  • An assessment and a narrative on the field characteristic is give
  • An assessment and a development narrative on in the locker room and off the field characteristics are given
